About
Rabbi Meir Sommer
I never meant to start an organization. I’m Rabbi Meir Sommer; rosh chabura in the Mir Yerushalayim, chosson teacher for nearly 2 decades, and Rav and Posek in the Sanhedria Murchevet neighborhood of Yerushalayim.

About 18 years ago, I began teaching chossanim, and I enjoy helping my talmidim start their marriages off properly. Over time, though, I became aware of the sad reality that not every couple glides away from the chuppah straight into a lifetime of marital bliss. My talmidim would turn to me for guidance, and if I saw they needed therapy I didn’t hesitate to refer them to the appropriate therapist.
Here’s where things got tricky.
Therapy is expensive – often prohibitively so – for a couple living on a limited budget. I saw up close how couples in need of specialized therapy weren’t getting it, simply because they couldn’t afford it.
I couldn’t stand by and watch couples suffer with their problems (which grew worse over time) so I tried to help. At first, I paid for their therapy out of my own pocket, case by case, but quickly realized this wasn’t a sustainable solution.
With no other options, I began to raise money to subsidize therapy for couples who were ready to put in the work but couldn’t afford the counseling. Spurred on by the clear impact my efforts were having on so many marriages, I formed an official organization, B’Lev Echad, in 2012.

For nearly a decade I’ve run a one-man show.
Now, I’m grateful to announce that Rabbi Shmuel Weiner, shlita, Rav of Zichron Nosson Tzvi in Ramat Eshkol, recently agreed to help me in this project.
Many couples are already benefiting from Rabbi Weiner’s insightful guidance. He also checks in with the therapists to make sure each couple is making appropriate progress. Having Rabbi Weiner on board means we can be there to advise even more couples.
Your donation means those couples will have access to the targeted therapy, as well.
